The Poppy Fields and Trees Series represents the simple beauty in nature in the form of vibrant colors and touchable, tactile textures.
The world is a 3 dimensional arena and I like to try and translate some of the dimensionality into my paintings through the use of pastes and palette knives.
I am intrigued with the use of iridescent paints which I find uplifting, so I introduce these colours into the skies and throughout the paintings for a touch of fantasy.
My works are meant to be an illusion of reality, focussing more on the textures, shadows and light rather than on the precise interpretation of nature.
I have begun to experiment with poured high gloss iridescent acrylics for the backgrounds to my moulded subjects. The first sample of this new approach is the Golden Tree Scape.
